Prada
16 Old Bond Street
The three-storey Mecca to all things Prada is one of the most unmissable stores on Bond Street. Covering 1,900 square metres and fronted by huge glass windows stretching two floors, its creative displays will surely lure you in.
Inside, the extensive range covers menswear and womenswear including bags, fragrances, shoes and sunglasses from the Italian heritage fashion house. If you’re looking for something in particular, whether it’s a gift, an outfit for a special occasion or to take a look at the new season styles, appointments can be booked at the store to ensure you’ll have the full attention of a member of staff.
Each room has its own unique character and design style, leaving much to be explored. The women’s area features a bold checkerboard floor with olive green velvet sofas and mint green walls while dark stained wood paired with burnt orange create a more masculine energy in the men’s department.
Amongst the wealth of new season designs, it’s hard to imagine Prada’s early days as a leather goods shop opened in 1913 by Mario Prada. It is his granddaughter, Miuccia Prada, who can take most of the credit for transforming it into the global fashion powerhouse it is today when she inherited the business in 1978 and where she is still creative director. Prada is now one of the most highly anticipated runway shows at Milan Fashion Week and counts numerous famous names, among them Kate Moss, Renee Zellweger, Florence Welch and Frank Ocean, as customers.
