Italian menswear icon Ermenegildo Zegna has had a store on New Bond Street since 1987, and their flagship store today is the epitome of modern luxury meets classic charm.
Upstairs, the private ‘Sur Misura’ area features a vintage 1950s bar and a beautiful bay window looking out over the street so that you can take your time choosing your new purchase’s bespoke features and have your measurements taken in a relaxed environment. The service covers casualwear, outerwear, and shoes as well as suits.
Tributes to other great Italian designers come in the form of furnishings from the likes of Carlo Scarpa, Augusto Savini, and Osvaldo Borsani whose interiors provide a modernist touch.
Art is also incredibly important to the over-a-century-old brand. Through the ZegnArt platform, which supports art as a means to link cultures, encourage the exchange of knowledge and resources, and foster ethical and civic values, they have commissioned some thoughtful pieces for the store.
In particular, look out for the ‘Dare/Avere’ tapestry by South African artist William Kentridge, who has created a beautiful piece in Ermenegildo Zegna’s own mohair fabric, depicting the brand’s history and values. It features a silhouette of the founder, after whom the company is named, with his signature cane, hat, and newspaper, alongside sewing machines, maps of the area where their fabric is made, and sewing patterns.
Other services available at the store include ‘Reserve and Try On’ for those wishing to check the fit of items they see online, and ‘By Appointment’ for those seeking a shopping service tailored to their needs with an expert advisor. Appointments can be booked by calling the store.
