IWC Schaffhausen
138 New Bond Street
The finest Swiss watchmaking comes to Bond Street at IWC Schaffhausen, a company with more than 150 years’ experience in honing its craft. Opened in 2015, the store at 138 New Bond Street was the first UK boutique for the historic brand.
Despite its Swiss namesake, the company was actually founded by an American, Florentine Ariosto Jones, in 1868 who saw an opportunity to create a business that was set apart from the rest of the Swiss watchmakers. He aimed to establish the brand in the wine-making region of Schaffhausen, employing the expertise of Swiss matchmakers but applying American advances in production technology. IWC stands for International Watch Company, a testament to this combination of the best of both countries.
Expect an Art Deco feel to this store, a unique design concept for this location, tailored to reflect the exterior of the building. Piano-finish wood, stainless steel and marble achieve this while also mimicking the monochrome design signature of the timepieces.
Another reason to treat yourself to a visit is the exclusive watches only available in London. Additional services include a VIP shopping suite and maintenance advice and servicing from their in-house watchmaker on the first floor. Head to the second floor for the ‘club lounge’, a relaxing space with an enticing drinks menu to enjoy by their fireplace. Part-exchange on watches of any brand is also available at the store to help you invest in your next IWC timepiece.
