Moncler
26 Old Bond Street
Keeping Bond Street warm with its famous down jackets, French-Italian brand Moncler caters to men, women and children. The flagship store has three floors, covering 330 square metres and has an Alpine, “haute montagne” décor theme, in keeping with the brand’s prominent skiwear collection. Chêne fumé wood floors and walls, white and black marble, and burnished brass furnishings will get you in the mood to hit the slopes while their outerwear and ski suits will get you prepared for it. Items bought online can be collected, returned or exchanged at this store. You can also reserve items online to try on at the store before committing to a purchase.
Moncler was founded in 1952 in the small French village of Montesier-de-Clermont, an abbreviated version of which gives the brand its name. The first jackets were created to keep workers warm in the Alpine region and their success led to the brand dressing the Italian expedition to K2 in 1954. In 1968, Moncler dressed competitors in the 1968 Grenoble Olympic games, the label Moncler Grenoble is given to the brand’s ski range. Today the brand is headquartered in Italy and is still highly regarded for its practical skiwear, but also its fashion sense as a brand that showcases at Milan Fashion Week and has even been worn on the red carpet. Beyond the ski collections, shoppers can expect a full ready-to-wear and accessories range including shoes, bags, eyewear and even dogwear. Regular collaborations with other designers are released periodically to always offer something fresh.
