After a tornado tears through Kansas, young Dorothy and her beloved dog Toto are swept up in the storm and find themselves transported to the magical land of Oz. Far, far away from Kansas, Oz is a hidden fairyland filled with mischievous Munchkins, wicked Witches, and flying Monkeys. In their quest to return home, Dorothy makes some unlikely allies in the form of a Scarecrow, a Tin Man, and a Cowardly Lion, all united in search of the Wonderful Wizard of Oz!
The music of The Wizard of Oz is world-famous, featuring iconic songs such as ‘Over the Rainbow’ and ‘Follow the Yellow Brick Road’. Seeing these songs performed live onstage will undoubtedly unleash a wave of nostalgia on its audience, bringing back happy childhood memories.
Read MoreBeyond these pre-existing tunes, this production features additional music by none other than Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice. The celebrated duo that created some of the world’s greatest musicals, such as Evita and Jesus Christ Superstar, once again collaborated to work on this show, creating musical magic in the process. Through a combination of the songs from the original film and the additional music by Webber and Rice, this is a truly outstanding musical score.
The Wizard of Oz features an all-star cast, with comedian Jason Manford in the role of the Cowardly Lion. Manford is a well-known name in British households, having recently hosted the game show Bigheads, as well as the most recent Children in Need broadcast. He is joined by Diversity’s Ashley Banjo, as well as Olivier Award nominee Gary Wilmot.
This is a must-see show for the whole family to enjoy, and the perfect way to spend a day out in the Summer holidays!
