Dune London
490 Oxford Street
If you’re shoe shopping on Oxford Street, add Dune to your itinerary for a wide choice of fashion-forward styles for women and men. The footwear specialist opened its first standalone store on Oxford Street at number 490 in 2014, and its popularity soon led to a second spot to serve the east end of the street at number 162. Oxford Street has a special place in the London-born brand as the home of its first-ever store, operated as an in-store concession.
Dune was founded in 1992, taking its name from sand dunes which founder Daniel Rubin felt “change their shape – just like fashion”. It aims to create a luxurious-looking product with a more affordable price tag. Initially focused on womenswear, it later expanded to menswear which makes up a significant portion of the products today, alongside bags, jewellery and accessories. One of the newer additions to Dune’s own-brand range, bridal shoes and accessories provide an affordable solution for those planning their big day alongside the typical mix of work shoes, trainers, boots and sandals. The store also carries other popular brands, including Ted Baker, Barbour, Lacoste and Ugg.
A pair of Dune boots were worn by HRH Duchess of Cambridge on the cover of British Vogue’s 100th-anniversary issue in 2016, the perfect choice for the royal who has always championed British brands. They’re a favourite with influencers and fashion week goers, including Nadia Anya, Annabel Rosendahl and Rosie Fortescue.
