Stephen Webster
130 Mount Street
The most discrete boutique on Mount Street, Stephen Webster’s salon sits on the second floor of a town house with no shop front or sign outside. This is a space only for those in the know. The British jewellery designer traded in his traditional store on the street for the private maison to create a more personal experience for his top clients that wasn’t currently available at his roster of stockists or ecommerce site.
The two-room apartment, designed by Guy Holloway, who also created Stephen’s holiday home in Kent, has been created to look as if you’re in Stephen’s home. Through the first room filled with glass cabinets of his collections, you’ll arrive at the stylishly furnished ‘No Regrets’ lounge, as the brand has called it. It features a bookshelf of Stephen’s favourite books and memorabilia and a guitar, amongst couture jewellery pieces. Artwork also features heavily. A taxidermy swan by David WildArt takes flight next to the fireplace, a gold chandelier by Fredrikson Stallard hangs from the ceiling, and artworks by friend Tracey Emin, who has also created collections with Stephen Webster in the past, decorate the walls. The space is designed to be as much about entertaining as it is showcasing, providing a space for the brand to host exhibitions and private dinners.
Known for turning the macabre into the beautiful, Stephen’s career has spanned four decades, with Kate Moss and Madonna counting themselves as fans of his gothic style, and Johnny Depp a devotee of the men’s collection. While he is well-known for fashion-forward, attention-grabbing styles, a bridal collection is also available from the salon for those looking for something less traditional.
A bespoke service is available by appointment. The expert design team are happy to create your dream jewellery from an antique piece or an existing gem stone, or to make something entirely new. The London salon also houses a workshop so your idea will go from consultation to creation under one roof.
