Linda Farrow
91 Mount Street
Mount Street is also home to one of London’s coolest home-grown brands, eyewear revolutionaries Linda Farrow. A pioneer in sunglasses as a fashion statement, the label, originally founded in the 1970s, was revived in 2003 by Linda’s son through the selling of the vintage styles left over from the defunct business. Ten years later, and the introduction of a design team and the production of new, vintage-inspired styles, their London flagship opened in Mayfair.
Sales advisors are on hand to offer a tailored service, while also allowing space to browse their most extensive selection of unisex optical glasses and shades. You’ll find some of the coolest styles around, loved by the international fashion crowd, in unusual shapes and quality that’s never compromised, with some of their most luxurious frames costing over £1,000.
Linda Farrow’s collaborations with the hottest luxury brands of the moment, namely 3.1 Phillip Lim, Alexander Wang, Raf Simons, Dries van Noten, and Jeremy Scott, has continued the legacy of fashion-forward specs. This was reflected in their VIP store opening party which was more industry-filled than celebrity-packed with Matthew Williamson, Peter Pilotto, and Markus Lupfer joining the brand for dinner at nearby Scott’s to celebrate. That doesn’t mean they’re short of celebrity fans though, with Beyoncé and Adele previously spotted sporting a pair.
Come Christmas, look out for their Julian The Bear mascot who has become something of a tradition. In recent years, they have sold a piggy bank version to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital and given out miniature Julian tree decorations with every purchase from the Mount Street flagship.
Elemental Design Practice is behind the design of the space which is referred to as the ‘Linda Farrow Gallery’, aligning the store with the brand’s artistic approach to product. Sleek and simple, with dark wood flooring and brightly-lit shelves that jut up from it, the boutique puts the glasses first and foremost.
