Como Metropolitan London
COMO Metropolitan London can be found on the West End’s most prestigious hotel address, Park Lane. Catering to short visits, at their celebrity-favoured restaurant Nobu, and longer visits, with their 19 residences, the luxury establishment, opened in 1997, does well to keep up with its more history-rich rivals.
The COMO Group has an extensive portfolio in Asia and brings the best of Eastern culture to this corner of Mayfair. A minimalist, nature-inspired interior has been created by Linzi Coppick, Design Director of Forme UK. Reflecting the hotel’s views over Hyde Park, green and berry tones have been used alongside walnut timber features and bespoke artwork creates an intriguing, abstract image of the park’s organic forms. The result is a design that creates an urban, yet serene, setting that puts wellbeing at the forefront.Read More
In-keeping with this, the Shambhala Urban Escape spa offers thai and shiatsu massage and acupuncture. A number of complete wellness packages can be booked, include private yoga sessions.
The restaurants and bars at the hotel, while still on the theme of East meets West, offer a more hedonistic experience. Japanese-Peruvian fusion is dished up at the Nobu restaurant, of which Robert de Niro is a partnet, and, while there are now three other locations around town, COMO Metropolitan is home to London’s first. Watch the chefs at the sushi bar or request a seat next to their floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the park. First-time diners are encouraged to try the black cod miso, of which Nobu were the original inventors, as it is still their long-time signature dish.
The hotel has new addition to Mayfair’s dining scene, Gridiron, a modern live-fire grill, it’s a unique collaboration between leading British chefs Richard H. Turner and Stephen Englefield. The restaurant combines Turner’s expertise in open flame cooking and ethical sourcing with Englefield’s creativity and fine dining craft. A cocktail list by Max and Noel Venning and wine list by renowned wine expert Fiona Beckett completes the stellar line-up of collaborators.
The hearty modern British menu celebrates seasonal, ethically-sourced ingredients, with meat, native fish and vegetables given equal attention. The peerless produce is cooked over an open flame using wood and charcoal. Guests can enjoy countertop dining looking straight into the kitchen or relax in the elegant dining room creating a modern and relaxed brasserie feel.
