British heritage label Daks not only has its flagship store on Bond Street, but also its headquarters and design studio so a shopping trip here brings you right to the heart of the brand. Known for its quality tailoring for men and women, the brand has honed its skills over more than 125 years right here in London having started life on East London’s Middlesex Street in 1894.
In the 1930s, Daks made a name for itself as the inventor of an adjustable waistband for trousers that eliminated the need for a belt or suspenders. The tailoring house went on to be commissioned for the British military and the 1960’s Olympic team. Today, their dedication to quality is reflected in the three royal warrants they hold as outfitters to the Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh and the Prince of Wales, the most a brand can hold.
The brand’s house check has been a design staple of the label since 1976 and appears on clothing and accessories throughout the collections, most notably on trench coats. Creative director Filippo Scuffi has been at the helm of the brand since 2005, continually bringing respect for the brand’s history to fresh collections each season.
A full alteration and tailoring service is available at the store and no appointment is necessary, though appointments can be made by contacting them if you’d prefer. Alterations are undertaken on site at the West End store and can be expected to be complete within a few days.
