Set in post-war Vienna, The Third Man is a thrilling tale of intrigue. After landing in Austria at the invitation of his dear friend Harry Lime, Holly soon discovers that not everything is as it seems. Harry has disappeared, and the explanations simply don’t add up… In an attempt to solve the mystery of what has happened, Holly is taken on a wild journey, intertwined with black marketeers and military bureaucracy.
The Third Man is based on the landmark 1949 British film noir, which has previously been voted the greatest British film of all time. As a result, its stage adaptation is highly anticipated, with audiences eager to see the iconic film live onstage.
Read MoreThis production has brought together the writing team behind Sunset Boulevard, with the book and lyrics by Don Black and Christopher Hampton. Sunset Boulevard is one of the most celebrated musicals of all time, so the involvement of the same writing team has made audiences very excited to see what’s in store. If this weren’t enough already, The Third Man is directed by Trevor Nunn, who will be known to many for having directed the original productions of Cats and Les Misérables. Furthermore, he also directed the original production of Sunset Boulevard and is thus no stranger to working alongside Black & Hampton to create musical magic.
In the leading role of Holly is Sam Underwood, who theatregoers may recognise for having starred in the popular drama series Dynasty. He is joined by Natalie Dunne, Edward Baker-Duly, and Derek Griffiths.
