Hadestown
Lyric Theatre
Fans, brace yourselves! The popular Broadway show Hadestown is coming to the West End in February 2024. This fantastic show, written by Anaïs Mitchell and directed by Rachel Chavkin, will be performed at the renowned Lyric Theatre. It has wowed audiences, winning an impressive eight Tony Awards® and a Grammy Award® for Best Musical Theatre Album. Make sure to catch this astounding musical spectacle.
In Hadestown, spectators embark on a grand adventure that delves into themes of music, unity, and hope. It borrows from Greek myths and transports you to a world of despair where poverty and oppression are widespread. Yet, in this grim realm, Orpheus’ melodies bring a glimmer of hope. His determination to find his lost love, Eurydice, shines through his music.
The musical is unique for combining multiple music genres, such as jazz, folk, blues, and rock. Mitchell composed the score and brought us memorable numbers like “Way Down Hadestown,” “Livin’ it Up on Top,” and “All I’ve Ever Known”.
