The Gruffalo is Tall Stories’ magical, musical adaptation of the much-loved picture book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler. It follows a brave little mouse taking a stroll through the deep dark wood, where a hungry fox, owl and snake each see her as a tasty snack.
To scare them off, the quick-thinking mouse invents a monster called the Gruffalo, only to come face to face with the very creature she made up. Packed with songs, laughs and mischievous fun, the show celebrates 25 years on stage in 2026.
The Gruffalo plays a summer season at the Lyric Theatre. The show runs for approximately one hour with no interval, and is perfect for children aged 3 and above and their families.
