Time Out
"Heart-stoppingly good fun."
Cirque Berserk roars into the West End this autumn, turning the Garrick Theatre into the most exhilarating big top in London for ten days only. Billed as Britain’s biggest theatre circus, it takes everything thrilling about the traditional circus and reimagines it for the stage, swapping the marquee in a muddy field for proper seats, lighting and sound - and putting you closer to the danger than you ever thought you wanted to be.
More than thirty acrobats, aerialists, jugglers, knife-throwers and daredevil stunt riders fill the evening with barely a pause for breath. Drawn from circus families and companies around the world, they bring a fusion of contemporary cirque-style artistry and old-fashioned, adrenaline-fuelled spectacle, all performed live and without a hint of a safety net where the stunts demand it.
The showstopper is the legendary motorcycle Globe of Death, in which the Lucius Team send riders hurtling around the inside of a caged steel sphere at up to sixty miles an hour, criss-crossing within inches of each other. It is the kind of act that usually needs a vast arena, brought heart-stoppingly close in the intimacy of a West End theatre. Add fire, breathtaking balance and comedy along the way, and you have a night out unlike anything else on Shaftesbury Avenue.
Cirque Berserk is a rare chance to see genuine, world-class circus on a West End stage. Here is why it is worth grabbing while it is here:

It is the show's jaw-dropping signature act: a spherical steel cage inside which motorcyclists ride at speed, looping vertically and passing within inches of one another. Performed live on stage by the Lucius Team, it is the sort of act you usually only see in a full circus arena, brought startlingly close in a West End theatre.
No. Cirque Berserk is an all-human spectacle, built entirely around the skill and daring of its performers rather than animals. Every thrill comes from the acrobats, aerialists, jugglers and stunt riders on stage.
It is recommended for ages five and up and is designed as a family show. The daredevil stunts and roaring engines are thrilling rather than frightening, though the loudest moments, like the Globe of Death, may briefly startle very young children. Most families find it the most exciting couple of hours of their year.
This is circus reimagined for the theatre. Instead of a marquee in a field, you get the same death-defying acts staged with proper lighting, sound and sightlines in the intimate surroundings of the Garrick, so you are remarkably close to the action in comfort.
An international company of more than thirty performers packs the evening with aerial artistry, acrobatics, juggling, knife-throwing, fire and high-adrenaline stunt work, building to the motorcycle Globe of Death. It is a fast, varied show with barely a moment to catch your breath.
It plays a strictly limited West End season at the Garrick Theatre from 21 to 31 October 2026, so there are only a handful of performances. With such a short run, booking early is the surest way to get the seats and dates you want here on WestEnd.com.
