About the show

“No day but today.” Thirty years after it redefined musical theatre, Jonathan Larson’s groundbreaking rock musical Rent bursts back onto the West End in a bold new production. Set in New York’s East Village, Rent follows a year in the lives of a group of young artists and friends chasing love, connection and creativity while living under the shadow of HIV/AIDS - a story of community and defiance measured out, famously, in seasons of love.

This 30th-anniversary staging is directed by Luke Sheppard (& Juliet, Paddington The Musical), with choreography by Tom Jackson Greaves and musical supervision by Bill Sherman. Stranger Things star Gaten Matarazzo leads the company as Mark, the aspiring filmmaker documenting the lives of those around him.

Rent plays a strictly limited season at the Duke of York’s Theatre from 26 September 2026, booking until 13 February 2027. Book your tickets now.
