About the show

The funniest, filthiest, most outrageous comedy on either side of the Atlantic has stormed into the West End. Cole Escola’s Tony Award-winning sensation Oh, Mary! takes the Trafalgar Theatre by storm - a gleefully unhinged reimagining of Mary Todd Lincoln as a miserable, suffocated, alcoholic wife who is absolutely desperate to become a cabaret star.

Set in a wildly heightened version of 1865 Washington in the weeks before Abraham Lincoln’s date at the theatre, the play follows Mary as she spirals through unrequited yearning, suppressed desires, heroic drinking and unstoppable theatrical ambition. It is a darkly hilarious, unapologetically camp 80-minute riot that has become a genuine comedy phenomenon.

The title role is shared by a glittering rota of stars across the run - Catherine Tate, writer and original Broadway sensation Cole Escola, and Jinkx Monsoon - supported by Scott Karim, Kate O’Donnell, Dino Fetscher and Oliver Stockley, and directed by Sam Pinkleton. Quite simply, there is nothing else like it in the West End. Book your tickets now.

Why it’s worth the watch

Oh, Mary! is the gleefully unhinged comedy phenomenon that critics have called the funniest thing in the West End.

  • A genuine comedy sensation. Cole Escola’s Tony Award-winning play arrives from a smash-hit Broadway run as one of the most talked-about comedies on either side of the Atlantic.
  • A rota of stars. The title role passes between Catherine Tate, Cole Escola and Jinkx Monsoon, so the leading lady you see depends on when you go.
  • Short, sharp and outrageous. At a brisk 80 minutes with no interval, it barrels through unhinged laughs without a wasted second.
  • Like nothing else in town. WhatsOnStage called it a comedic bullet to the brain, and its unapologetically camp energy backs that up.
  • Operating Since 2015
