Kimberly Akimbo is the UK premiere of the musical that won five Tony Awards in 2023, including Best Musical, Best Book and Best Original Score. It tells the story of Kimberly Levaco, a New Jersey teenager with a rare genetic condition that causes her to age around four times faster than normal, so she looks far older than her nearly-16 years.
Navigating a chaotic family, a new school and a first crush, and an ex-con aunt who arrives with a scheme, Kimberly sets out to seize adventure and make the most of the time she has. Warm, funny and unexpectedly moving, the show features a book and lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire and music by Jeanine Tesori.
This UK premiere is directed by Michael Longhurst and stars Maria Friedman as Kimberly. It plays a limited season at Hampstead Theatre and is suitable for ages 14 and above.
