The fame. The fire. The fight. This is her story. From a teenage activist marching with the Black Panther Party to the lead singer of Rufus, to one of the biggest solo stars on the planet - Chaka Khan’s life has been extraordinary, complex, and full of music. Now, for the first time, that story comes to the stage in a thrilling world premiere musical, backed by Chaka herself, and starring Alexandra Burke in the role of a lifetime.
With 22 albums, 25 chart-topping hits and 70 million records sold, Chaka Khan has shaped the soundtrack of generations. I’m Every Woman delves into the woman behind the music - her rise to fame, her battles behind the spotlight, her struggles with addiction, her passion for civil rights, and her powerful journey of resilience. The musical’s book by Nia T. Hill includes an array of Chaka’s famous real-life friends, with characters including Prince, Joni Mitchell, Stevie Wonder, Steve Winwood and Luther Vandross appearing alongside her.
The musical had its world premiere in early 2026 at the Hackney Empire before embarking on a UK tour. Now it arrives at the Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre - a state-of-the-art 1,200-seat venue 12 minutes from Baker Street - for its biggest London run yet, directed by Racky Plews with choreography by Ebony Clarke. Alexandra Burke - X Factor winner and West End star of The Bodyguard and Sister Act - plays Chaka on most dates, with Jordan Frazier as alternate Chaka Khan.
Before the show, the theatre transforms into an immersive, funk-filled 1980s club experience where audiences can dance, drink and soak up the vibe before the curtain rises. It is, as Chaka Khan herself says, “a rich, beautiful, and sometimes difficult life - and now those experiences will come alive on stage.” Book your tickets now.
