Nine Night is Natasha Gordon’s acclaimed play, set around the Jamaican tradition of a Nine Night, the nine-night wake held to mourn and celebrate a person who has died. As a family gathers following the death of the matriarch, Gloria, long-buried tensions, grief and secrets rise to the surface across three generations.
Warm, funny and deeply moving, the play premiered at the National Theatre in 2018 before transferring to the West End, becoming the first play by a Black British woman to be staged in the West End. This new production is directed by the Kiln’s artistic director Amit Sharma.
Nine Night plays a limited season at the Kiln Theatre.
