About the show

On a stormy night, a young dreamer and a hungry young woman meet, fall in love, and are tested by the cruellest of circumstances. Hadestown intertwines two mythic tales - that of young lovers Orpheus and Eurydice, and that of King Hades and his wife Persephone - as it invites you on a hell-raising journey to the underworld and back.

Anaïs Mitchell’s celebrated score mingles New Orleans-inspired jazz with American folk music to tell a story as old as time - and as urgent as today. Directed by Rachel Chavkin, this acclaimed production has won eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical, and the Grammy Award for Best Musical Theatre Album.

Now playing at London’s Lyric Theatre, Hadestown is a haunting and hopeful theatrical experience that grabs you and never lets go. Featuring beloved songs including “Way Down Hadestown,” “Wait for Me” and “Why We Build the Wall,” it is a love story for today and always. Book your tickets now.
