Sunset Boulevard – West End

  • Theatre

    Savoy Theatre

  • Duration

    150 minutes

  • Age Restrictions

    16+ years

Sunset Boulevard follows the heartbreaking story of Norma Desmond – a dwindling star of the silent screen era. With her fame long behind her, she quietly mourns what once was and plots her comeback. The plan is accelerated when she crosses paths with young screenwriter Joe Gills, who offers her a much-needed lifeline. Things soon take a turn however when romance gets in the way, causing heartbreak and eventual tragedy to follow…

The announcement of this new revival of Sunset Boulevard made national headlines, due the fact that American singer Nicole Scherzinger would be taking on the role of Norma Desmond. Scherzinger is best known as the lead singer of the Pussycat Dolls, recognised for having released iconic songs such as ‘Don’t Cha’ and ‘Stickwitu’. She previously made her West End debut in Cats in 2014, for which she received an Olivier Award nomination. Norma Desmond is one of the most legendary roles in theatre history, so audiences are waiting with bated breath to see Nicole Scherzinger’s new interpretation of the character.

As well as the buzz surrounding Sunset Boulevard’s leading lady, many were also excited to see that Olivier Award winner Jamie Lloyd would be taking to the director’s chair. Lloyd is one of the West End’s most eminent directors, having recently drawn acclaim for his five-star production of Cyrano de Bergerac. Lloyd has said that he intends to reimagine Sunset Boulevard for a new generation and, if his past productions are anything to go by, then West End audiences are in for a real treat.

Sunset Boulevard is playing for a strictly limited run starting in September, so if you do not want to miss out on this awe-inspiring revival then be sure to get your tickets now before it’s too late!
