Stephen Sondheim’s Old Friends is a musical revue, celebrating the life and work of a man who is quite possibly the greatest musical theatre composer of all time. As many will likely know, Sondheim devoted his life to the arts, writing some of the world’s most famous musicals, such as West Side Story, Sweeney Todd, and Into the Woods. His most well-known songs include ‘Send in The Clowns’ and ‘Broadway Baby,’ both of which are featured in this concert. His music touched so many, and his success over numerous decades shows that his work is truly timeless. Therefore, Old Friends is a touching tribute to the man who gave the West End everything and more.
Old Friends was originally staged as a one-off concert in 2022, where it sold out within a couple of hours. It received rave reviews, including 5 stars from The Guardian, which claimed that the show had achieved “remarkable magic.” The concert was so popular that the creative team decided to bring it back, giving audiences another chance to watch this unforgettable evening of Sondheim classics.
