Sinatra The Musical — London

Classic Sinatra hits

It is New Year's Eve, 1942. A skinny 27-year-old Italian-American singer is about to step onto the stage of New York City's Paramount Theatre and give a performance that will change music history. As Frank Sinatra's voice captures a nation, his heart is torn between his devoted wife Nancy and the magnetic pull of movie goddess Ava Gardner — and his career, fame and very identity hang in the balance.

Sinatra The Musical is the most revealing portrait ever told about the Chairman of the Board. Developed with unprecedented access to Frank Sinatra's personal story — authorised by his daughter Tina Sinatra — this is a show that goes far beyond the legend, to the man behind it: his genius, his contradictions, his downfall, and his extraordinary comeback.

"We look forward to creating an evening of theatre that is as sophisticated, stylish and sexy as Sinatra himself."

Written by two-time Tony Award winner Joe DiPietro with unprecedented access from the Sinatra family, the show follows Frank's meteoric rise from the Hoboken docks to the stages of Hollywood, through the scandal that nearly destroyed him — his affair with Ava Gardner, the public backlash, the plummeting record sales — and the relentless determination that brought him back, greater than ever.

The production played a sold-out run at Birmingham Rep in 2023 before transferring to the West End. Now, at the Aldwych Theatre, it arrives in London with a cast headed by Joel Harper-Jackson as Frank, Ana Villafañe as Ava Gardner and Phoebe Panaretos as Nancy Sinatra — accompanied by an orchestra of 17 live musicians performing over twenty of his greatest hits.

Three-time Tony Award winner Kathleen Marshall — one of the most celebrated director-choreographers working today — brings the same sophistication and precision to this production that Sinatra himself brought to his music. The result is an evening that is funny, romantic, heartbreaking and, above all, utterly alive with the sound of a voice that changed everything.
