& Juliet West End

    Shaftesbury Theatre

  • Duration

    150 minutes

    12+ years

Shakespeare’s never sounded quite like this before. This is the Bard meets Britney Spears and the Backstreet Boys, as one of his most iconic characters, Juliet, gets her very own jukebox musical.

Set to the smash hits of legendary songwriter Max Martin, who has penned pop anthems for Katy Perry and Ariana Grande, & Juliet imagines an alternative ending for its tragic heroine. David West Read’s book wonders what if Juliet had carved out a whole other story for herself instead of running off with Romeo to her untimely death. As the curtain nears and that final scene plays out, she picks up the dagger and… makes a dash for it. & Juliet proves there’s life after Romeo.

Juliet was a teenager in Shakespeare’s script – just 14 when she met Romeo that night – so it makes perfect sense to set her new story to pop. And no one pumped out pop anthems quite like Max Martin. Songs like Hit Me Baby One More Time and Larger Than Life have blasted out of teenager’s bedrooms the world over, and now they’ve been sumptuously arranged for the stage by Grammy Award-winning orchestrator Bill Sherman.

Directed by the rising young musical director Luke Sheppard, who scored a big Olivier Award-winning hit with the UK premiere of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s In The Heights & Juliet is stuffed with top-drawer West End talent. Fresh out of Hamilton, Miriam Teak-Lee will take the lead role, and she’s joined by Cassidy Jackson (Beautiful: The Carole King Musical) and Oliver Tompsett (Kinky Boots).

With a creative team including award-winning set designer Soutra Gilmour and choreographer Jennifer Weber, & Juliet has the potential to be an unbeatable musical. This fresh take on Shakespeare blended with pop songs is sure to have audiences humming along. After all, music truly is the food of love – so book your & Juliet Tickets today!

The entire cast was so very talented with a huge shout out to the wonderful women playing Juliet. The costumes, set, lighting, sound and band were beyond incredible. I took my Mother who is in her 70's and my 10-year-old daughter. We ALL sang, danced and clapped widely from beginning to end. If you want a show that you will remember forever....this is it! Go and see it before you miss out as it is closing on March 25th. read less

The musical, which has an extremely weak, meandering, and confusing storyline, was nevertheless entertaining for a fan of pop music such as myself. The performances of the cast members are incredible across the board and worthy of high praise—evoking emotions otherwise unprompted by the script. Pro tip: try to secure rush tickets over TodayTix. Though limited to a maximum of 2 seats and usually sold out quickly, these are great seats that help the show feel more like a value for money. read less

Miriam teek lee who plays Juliet is such a joy to watch. Her voice is amazing, this role was just perfect for her. The theatre itself is comfortable and relaxing. It has some nice carvings and a solid backstage. The front of the stage is also cool with some tile patters. This is definitely a must see musical for musical fans. read less

I’ve seen over 10 musicals in the past 4 months in New York, Los Angeles, and London. Fun and clever with modern songs weaved into the story. Three actors stood out in the London cast as being incredible: Shakespeare, Anne Hathaway, and Mae. (The NY standouts were Juliet, Anne Hathaway, Francois, Romeo). We wasted money on seeing Back To The Future (horrible!). Go see this show! read less

My friend and I laughed, cried, sang our hearts out and clapped until our hands hurt. It was the most diverse performance I've ever seen and the actors were nothing short of fab-u-lous! The actors seemed genuinely blown away by the audiences reaction. Anybody who didn't like this show should stick to the original William Shakespeare script! read less

The first time it was just my wife and I and on our return, we took two of our daughters along too (ages 14 & 12). They loved it just as much as we did.
It's loud, it's fun, it's energetic, it's just blooming marvellous.
I've seen a few reviews here that aren't that keen on it - crazy! And those that have an issue with it heavily representing LGBTQ+ need to realise it's the problem, not the show.
Honestly, go see it and you will love it.

All begins with a what if… and the story flows in an enjoyable way that you do not realise how time passes. It was during the performance that I understood how many hits Max Martin has written all this years as these hits are embedded in the script is a unique way. The cast acting and vocals were of a high standard. A performance I recommend for London’s visitors. read less

The music tracks picked were almost made out of all the biggest hits of the last 15 to 20 years of pop music.

The actors were all superb vocally and can all act so well. The story line was great and the entire piece was very uplifting and throughly entertaining.

Awesome show and highly recommended.

The story was so clever & representative of the times we are living. For some people maybe a bit “woke” but I loved it.
The staging is clever. The cast outstanding, particularly
Miriam Teak-Lee who I have seen several times in Hamilton. Brilliant to see her now taking a lead role. Cassidy Janson & Oliver Tompsett we’re also brilliant as are all the cast.
Fantastic feel good show that you will leave with a big smile on your face.
I won’t give too much away but loved The Backstreet “Du Bois”

This was BRILLIANT!
From the minute Juliet ( @miriamteak_lee ) started singing I had full body goosebumps. She was an absolute powerhouse, love, love, loved her! Wish I got to see her in Hamilton!
Mays (Alex Thomas-Smith) first solo had me in tears.
The aesthetic was so pleasing.
The story was interesting, funny and Queer! Marley said it was perfect that we saw it in Pride month.
It’s a jukebox musical so you will know the songs.
That’s all I’m saying.
