The classic film

You're invited to the most swell party of the year. Glamorous Long Island socialite Tracy Lord is preparing for the society wedding of the summer when her debonair ex-husband Dexter Haven sails unexpectedly back into her life. A sharp-eyed tabloid reporter arrives hunting for scandal, a new suitor vies for her attention, and plans for the perfect wedding begin to spectacularly unravel.

"Nobody does musical comedy like the genius that is Cole Porter."

Based on Philip Barry's celebrated 1939 comedy The Philadelphia Story — and the beloved 1956 MGM film starring Grace Kelly, Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra — High Society brings Cole Porter's glittering world to life with wit, romance and a full-size orchestra. From the producers behind the Barbican's smash-hit seasons of Anything Goes, Kiss Me Kate and Fiddler on the Roof, this lavish new production marks the first large-scale London staging of the musical in over a decade.

Helen George, beloved by millions as Trixie in Call the Midwife, leads the 28-strong company as Tracy Lord, joined by the incomparable Felicity Kendal as Mother Lord. With music and lyrics by Cole Porter and a book by Arthur Kopit, the score overflows with Golden Age classics — all performed by a full-size orchestra in the magnificent surroundings of the Barbican Theatre.
