The Story
Grace Pervades — London
Theatre Royal Haymarket, Haymarket
Hare
A new play by
Sir David Hare
International star of stage and screen Ralph Fiennes gives the performance of his career as Sir Henry Irving — the greatest actor of the Victorian age — in an astonishing new play by Sir David Hare, fresh from a sell-out season at the Theatre Royal Bath.
He is joined by Miranda Raison playing Ellen Terry, the most loved and best-paid actress of her day. She joined Irving's company at the Lyceum Theatre in an unprecedented theatrical adventure that is celebrated to this day. It was never known for certain whether Irving and Terry were lovers. One thing is certain, however — their relationship changed the theatre forever.
"Ralph Fiennes gives the performance of a true star — focused, luminous, magnetic."
A stellar creative team of Olivier Award-winning talent — led by director Jeremy Herrin and designer Bob Crowley — brings this incredible story to vivid life. Grace Pervades is a rare theatrical event: an intimate portrait of two extraordinary artists whose bond defied convention and whose legacy endures more than a century later.
