One of the few female names you’ll spot on Savile Row, Kathryn Sargent is also one of the youngest tailoring businesses having been founded in 2012. The company’s namesake learnt the trade at Gieves & Hawkes, where she worked for 15 years, eventually becoming the only woman to hold the title of Head Cutter. The headquarters of the business is located on nearby Brook Street but has returned to Savile Row for special residencies in the past and is an associate member of the Savile Row Bespoke Association.
In a modern yet genteel setting, Kathryn and her team talk their male and female clients through their needs and tastes to provide an authentic bespoke experience. Approximately two or three fittings are required. The company works to the philosophy that “a Savile Row tailor should always present you with a garment that enhances your best features, flatters your shape and fits perfectly.” You’ll also find a little extra cloth inside your suit in case you need to come back for repairs or alterations, ensuring that exactly the same cloth is still available. Once you own a Kathryn Sargent suit, you are a customer for life, and every piece you buy should last as long.
A flexible approach to design means that the house caters to all styles of suiting, as well as other items of staple wear and uniforms for men, and everything from business attire to couture eveningwear for women. A made-to-measure service, referred to as ‘Crafted by Kathryn Sargent’, is also available at the salon. Kathryn herself makes trips to America throughout the year to meet with clients for fittings and orders in the States too.
For something utterly unique, craft your ensemble in their exclusive Sargent Harris Tweed. The unisex fabric has been made in special partnership with Scottish fabric experts Harris Tweed and has a subtle heather tone and light over-check for an understated yet special suit or coat.
