The makers of the festival-goers favourite wellington boot, Hunter, opened its first ever store on London’s Regent Street in 2014. Offering more than just rain-splashing footwear, the brand has an extensive range to cover you from the country to city living which might surprise you.
Across the three floors and 5,300 square feet you’ll find bags, brollies, boot socks and stylish rain macs for women, men, and children, each stamped with the recognisable rectangular logo. With everything expertly designed to keep the rain off your back, it’s a mandatory stop for dwellers of the notoriously wet capital, and a handy pit stop for tourists caught without the proper paraphernalia.
The flagship brings the countryside to Regent Street, designing the store like an ‘urban barn’ with a sloped roof on the top floor, an industrial metal staircase and merchandise hanging in front of hedgerow projections or layered stone walls. It’s colourful, playful, and certain to awaken your desire for adventure in the great outdoors. A large LED screen plays footage from their London Fashion Week showcase and, conveniently, the latest weather reports. While taking a seat to see whether their long or short boot styles are the ones for you, feel free to grab the headphone next to you and immerse yourself in a carefully selected soundtrack to transport you to greener pastures.
While in recent years Hunter’s popularity has sky-rocketed thanks to achingly cool British celebrities, including Alexa Chung, Kate Moss, and Cara Delevingne, sporting their wellies at Glastonbury and the like, they have been around for over 160 years.
The range is split into two brand categories, Hunter Original, their fashion collection, and Hunter Field, a more technical line for a hard-working boot designed for optimum protection. Each pair comes with a 12-month warranty too for guaranteed quality.
Demonstrating excellence in their craftsmanship, the quintessentially British brand holds two Royal Warrants for HM The Queen and HRH The Duke of Edinburgh.
