Foster & Sons have been making quality leather shoes above their Jermyn Street shop since 1840. One of the few handcrafted, bespoke makers of shoes and boots to have their workshop on-site, their skilled artisans work with uncompromising techniques that have remained top of their game for two centuries.
Their bespoke offering is entirely made by hand using a unique last made just for you. They’ll spend an hour with you on your first visit, measuring and assessing your feet and discussing your options of models, toe shapes, material, and any additional decorative features you’d like. From there, the team in the workshop set about making your last (which they’ll keep in the store for any future orders), and begin their detailed work on your shoe. Before the outer sole is attached, first-time customers are invited back into the store for a try on, to ensure that it fits perfectly. Your shoe is passed through the hands of a last maker, pattern cutter, and shoe maker, each putting in many hours to complete the job.
Custom cases and leather goods can also be ordered at the store. Whether you want them to replicate an old style you’ve had for years and can no longer find, or you’d like something completely new that meets your exact needs be it for a tablet case, card case, key holder or similar item.
Foster & Son has also partnered with some of the best specialists in the industry to extend their offering and help you get the best product. Through their relationship with Henry Maxwell they offer a service on bespoke hunting and riding boots, and, though Foster & Son offer traditional footwear for women too, if you’re after something more creative, Caroline Groves is able to assist.
