Gucci brings Florentine flair to Old Bond Street, where the Italian power house’s second London flagship resides.
Carrying a full array of womenswear, menswear, bags, shoes, jewellery, watches, and beauty, the boutique invites you to relax in style during your visit with plush velvet furnishings mixed with industrial metal studding reflecting the contemporary concept for the house.
Many head straight from a quick peruse of handbags and accessories on the ground level to the first floor of the store to check out the women’s ready-to-wear and, more importantly, shoes, which the luxury label is renowned for.
Founded in 1921 by Guccio Gucci, the heritage label is now the biggest selling Italian fashion brand in the world. Starting with one leather goods store in Florence, using the finest Italian hide, it blossomed into one of the major fashion success stories of the 20th Century, expanding into multiple product categories for men and women, while always remaining true to its roots and what it does best.
Exclusive to this store is their customisation service where you can have their bomber jackets and shirts customised with the house’s signature snake and bee motifs or a monogram. The animal designs are part of the ‘Gucci Garden’, symbolic references to what the brand stands for such as ‘knowledge’ in the case of the serpent and ‘nobility’ in the case of the bee. Made-to-measure suits can also be finished to your preference with silk waistbands, floral embroidery, a patterned lining or ornate buttons.
It’s also open a little later on Thursdays, which is worth noting for post-work retail therapy or a pre-weekend treat.
