Father-daughter run restaurant, Jamavar, on Mount Street, is not your average Indian dining spot, combining lavish interiors with a menu that brings the smells of Southern Asia to your plate. With five upscale destinations in India at the family’s luxury hotels, this is the first London location, and the only one outside of their home country.
Executive Chef Rohit Ghai has travelled India in search of the best ingredients and recipes, taking in the many regional nuances and traditions the vast country has to offer. His work has helped to win Jamavar a Michelin star, as well as an OpenTable Diners’ Choice Award and Top Newcomer at the Harden’s London Restaurant Awards 2017.
Street food-inspired sharing plates, curries, and tandoor dishes are enriched with saffron, cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, chilli, and many more herbs and spices that make Indian cuisine a British favourite. Many are grown in their own botanical garden for maximum freshness and fragrance. You’ll find classic dishes such as chicken tikka and gobhi aloo as you’ve never tasted them before, alongside exciting new dishes to try. The meat used in their dishes is Halal and an extensive choice of vegetarian options, including a full tasting menu, make Jamvar a delight to be enjoyed by everyone. The sommeliers are on hand to offer excellent pairing suggestions for your meal, including a couple of surprising options from India, while the cocktail list includes a special selection of gin and tonics, celebrating the drink’s Indian heritage as a beverage first enjoyed by British officers stationed there.
Private dining is available for up to eight guests in a stunning room inspired by the indigo dying tradition, complete with a wine vitrine and overlooking its own garden. The lower ground floor can also be booked for events with up to 32 guests and the kitchen team will be happy to discuss your tailored dining options with you. Special dining experiences take place around Indian festivals, such as Diwali, too.
