British high-street fashion and food chain Marks and Spencer has occupied its historic spot on Oxford Street since 1938. The building at 173 Oxford Street was the site of a prominent public entertainment venue that opened in 1772, housing a bazaar, wine merchants and a theatre before it was demolished and rebuilt as the store it is today.
You might not find a theatre inside it anymore, but the basement is home to Marks and Spencer’s upscale supermarket for all your food and wine needs. The ground, first and second floors are home to womenswear, menswear, underwear, kidswear and home collections covering good quality basics for the whole family and fashion items. The extensive range of styles includes shoes, bags, accessories and lines catering to petite, plus size and maternity for women and a big and tall collection for men.
