Ferragamo
24 Old Bond Street
Italian luxury shoemakers Salvatore Ferragamo is one of the most longstanding tenants on Bond Street having opened their shop here over 80 years ago. In 2012, the store was expanded by 60% and now has space for a full selection of shoes, bags, accessories, ready-to-wear, watches, jewellery and fragrances for both men and women. The façade has changed very little over the years though as a grade II listed building designed in a gothic revival style with a fleche and bell tower on top.
As a brand with a long history, going back to 1927, its client list includes Hollywood icons such as Marilyn Monroe, Greta Garbo and Audrey Hepburn. Before Salvatore Ferragamo founded his own name label, he moved to LA and made shoes for movie stars which set him up with an enviable list of customers to put his own name in lights a few years later. Today you’re likely to see VIPs including Jessica Alba, Miranda Kerr and Kirsten Dunst sporting a pair of their shoes that are known as much for their comfort as their style. The brand’s roots in Florence are just as important as its history of dressing the most glamorous celebrities and their shoes and handbags are still made in Italy to support local craftspeople and ensure optimum quality.
The New Bond Street store is the ideal location to immerse yourself in new styles or pick up some of their iconic classics like the Vara pump. Fans of a cork wedge heel won’t be able to resist picking up a pair from the brand that started it all.
